Engineered Wood Flooring is also commonly called engineered wood or mass timber, and refers to the fact that the product is made using engineered hardwood strands bonded together using heat and pressure in a controlled atmosphere. The resulting product is very dense, smooth, and very rigid. Typically, it consists of up to eighteen mm of pure solid material with a twenty – eighteen mm thick top layer. The top eighteen mm of the boards are typically made from high quality pressed wood or a similar product. The remaining part, called the bottom layer, is made from a high quality composite material that is bonded to the flooring using high pressure and heat.
